Our DVD and Video collection is divided into seven parts.  Six of these rotate among the 6 branch libraries every two months.  At the end of a year each branch library has seen each part of the six parts.  Collection seven is a group of videos that have been "retired" from the rotating collection.  These are videos that don't circulate often enough to justify keeping them in the rotating collections, but we want to make them available to our patrons for a while longer.  Collection seven is kept at Metamora Branch Library .  Videos from collection can be requested and will be sent to your branch library

KIDS CORNER

Mike Anderson, a folk performer and educator from Jacksonville, Illinois, recently entertained over 160 children and their parents at three parties held in Roanoke, Metamora, and Spring Bay to celebrate the completion of the Illinois Prairie District Public Library Summer Reading Program.   He engaged each group through humorous storytelling and music, which included various instruments as diversified as a mountain dulcimer, banjo, jaw harp and nose flute.   Along with a juggling demonstration, Mike also gave tips to enable the children to learn the craft themselves.

542 children at the six branches took the challenge of the “Scare Up a Good Book!” theme to register for the program and 371 were brave enough to complete the course.   Each child who finished the program received a bag of goodies, McDonald’s coupon for a free sandwich, a voucher to the Normal CornBelters game, a voucher to the Peoria Chief’s game, and a chance to go to the ending party with Mike Anderson.
