Illinois Prairie District Public Library announces that Samantha Collins is the winner of a 1.0 GB Smart Investing flash drive for her computer.  Samantha won the flash drive as a result of her visit to the library’s Smart Investing booth on Thursday, June 19, at the Old Settlers Festival in Metamora. 

Smart investing@your library is a partnership between Alliance Library System, the American Library Association and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation.   The purpose of the van and its display was to promote libraries and encourage individuals to check out the resources available from their public library when learning about investing or making financial decisions.  At the display, people were able to look over a group of books on investing and finances, order books via interlibrary loan, sign up for live workshops on investing and retirement issues to be held online and at libraries around the system, and even take a quiz to determine their “investing IQ”, as well as entering the drawing for the free flash drive.

John Howard, Special Projects Coordinator from the Alliance Library System, and Grant Fredericksen, director of Illinois Prairie DPL, were on hand to answer questions and help people understand what library resources are available to them.
