Computers & Technology

Computers in the Children's department have educational programs, games, and videos preloaded. Students wishing to use library computers for general internet access should use the computers located adjacent to the Circulation desk. Children under the age of ten (10) must be accompanied and directly supervised at all times by a parent or other responsible caregiver. Please see the Unattended Children policy for details.

Reference staff are available to help you find the items you need and assist you with your research. We can help you on the computer and show you how to use the library’s online resources. We welcome your questions!

Document lamination is available at the Germantown Hills and Metamora branches. Lamination charges: $1.00 per thermal pouch. One thermal pouch can hold a single 8.5" x 11" document or multiple smaller items arranged in a single layer.  

IPDPL offers a variety of creative resources in our Makerspaces, including Cricut cutting machines and a Bambu Lab 3D printer. We also offer instruction programs on using creative technology.

Patrons may use desktop computers for free with a library card or guest pass. Computers use a Windows-based operating system and connect to the internet. Please see the Internet Use policy for details.

IPDPL has free public wi-fi available at all branches.

Patrons can access additional materials and resources using the IPDPL Digital Library. Bring your smartphone or tablet to the library for assistance with eBooks and audiobooks, mobile apps, and more. Walk-ins are welcome, but scheduling an appointment in advance is encouraged.

The Metamora Branch offers test proctoring. Test proctoring accomodations are determined according to the needs of the instructor and on a case-by-case basis. For more information and to schedule a test proctoring session, email Dawn Smith at dawn@ipdpl.org.
