Our annual Summer Reading Program has officially begun!  IPDPL offers three different summer reading challenges so readers can choose the challenge that best suits them:

  • Read to Me: for beginning and emerging readers (reading goal = 50 books)
  • Casual Readers: for busy readers without a lot of time (reading goal = 25 hours)
  • Avid Readers: for passionate readers who are all in (reading goal = 50 hours)

Attention K - 12 Students!

Over Winter Break this year, you can Be a Reading Machine and you might win a Barnes & Noble gift card!

Join our Be a Reading Machine Winter Break Reading Challenge, log at least 3 hours of reading between December 21 and January 6, and you will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card.  To join the challenge, visit our Beanstack page (ipdpl.beanstack.org) or pick up a paper reading log from any IPDPL branch.  


The Fine Print

  • The Be a Reading Machine challenge is open to students in Grades K - 12 enrolled in the Riverview, Germantown Hills, Metamora, Roanoke-Benson, or Lowpoint-Washburn school districts OR are homeschool students living in the Illinois Prairie District Public Library service area.
  • Readers should log their progress on the IPDPL Beanstack website OR turn in a written log of their reading to any IPDPL branch on or before January 7, 2025.
  • Paper logs are available upon request from any IPDPL branch.
  • One winner will be drawn on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
