Silent Book Club

Looking for a low-key way to connect with fellow readers?  Join us for Silent Book Club.  There’s no assigned reading — bring whatever book you like (ebooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, even textbooks are welcome).  Friends and strangers gather, greet each other, share what they're reading, and settle in for an hour of silent, sustained reading.  At the end of the hour, attendees can socialize — or not!  Silent Book Club is about community.  Everyone is welcome, and anyone can join.

Agenda for Meetings
4:00 - 4:30 pm - Find a seat.  Settle in.  Say "Hello."
4:30 - 5:30 pm - Silent reading hour.  Please step away or outside to chat.
5:30 - 6:00 pm - Share book recommendations or just keep reading!

Silent Book Club meets on the first Thursday of the month in Metamora unless otherwise noted.  Bring your book recommendations or books to swap* with other members and share them before you leave.  Noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs are recommended if you are sensitive to light conversation (we do not have exclusive use of the library).

* If you have a book you are willing to share with another reader, please bring it and set it on the community table.  When you are done reading, feel free to browse the community table for books.  If any books you brought have not been claimed by the end of the meeting, please take them with you and bring them again some other time.  Please do not trade library books.

About Silent Book Club
